One of the greatest things about being a wedding photographer is that first reaction; when you know you have captured the emotion of a couple’s big day so they can re-live it for years to come. What a buzz!

Yesterday I had the great joy & privilege of covering the wedding of Hannah & Jon, assisted by my daughter, Emma. I have known Jon since he was a teenager, when he attended the after-school homework club my wife & I used to run. Since then I have worked with both Jon & Hannah in the charity where I work full time. Their wedding ceremony was held at Frontline Church in Wavertree, Liverpool and the wedding breakfast at the Devonshire Hotel.

They are a lovely couple and were great to ’shoot’. Despite the late hour and near darkness, (not to mention the temperature!) they were eager to do some shots on location and we had some fun checking out Liverpool’s riverside and docks, an industrial location and another rather unusual wedding location, which will remain secret until the images are published – watch this space!

They are perfect for each other and I wish them well in their lives together. Enjoy the US honeymoon!

I had a very nice surprise a couple of days ago. SWPP arrange a review of all Silver images after a couple of months and some may then be upgraded to Gold. I have just been notified that one of my August entries has been upgraded in the recent review. It’s a photo of Mary, a lovely bride whose wedding I covered earlier this year. August was the first time I ever entered a competition so it’s especially gratifying to have that Gold. It brings my total to 2 Golds from just 12 entries, so I’m well pleased!

Hello again. Well, I have just one more wedding this year, the lovely Hannah & Jon, who are not just clients but also friends and colleagues in the charity I work for. Their wedding is a week on Sunday and I’m looking forward to a lovely cold day – hopefully dry, even if it’s freezing! I will post a few of the images here as soon as I can after the day.

I’ve just finished an album design for Julie & Philip who married in the summer, and before next week’s wedding, I have to work on a few print orders for clients from the last 12 months’ weddings. Then, over Christmas, I need to start the album design from our son, Phil’s wedding to Lisa in July. So I’ll be keeping fairly busy.

In the meanwhile I need to be preparing for Part 2 of my Licentiate course, and also thinking about some updates to my website over the next few months. And when time allows, I’ll be adding more to the blog! Speak to you soon
