McGillicuddy

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

On Monday I had the great privilege of attending a training day with McGillicuddy, an internationally renowned photographer. It was geared towards preparing the 6 lucky students for obtaining Licentiate status with SWPP.

It was a long day (11 hours!) but completely energising and inspirational. There was a perfect mix of socialising, teaching, practical work – and refreshments! I owe a great debt of gratitude to Damian & Lesley McG and to Lozie, our gorgeous and incredibly talented model. And I am very much looking forward to a future session developing what we started this week. I have attached a couple of shots to give just a flavour of the day, which concentrated on lighting, but also looked at posing and included an excellent and helpful critical assessment of pre-submitted work. The great thing was that I came away confident that I could move on and achieve much more.

I should also offer thanks to my fellow students, Sarah, HelenGrace, Siobhan, Darren and “Island Dave”, who are all great guys. We had a good laugh and intend to keep in touch.

If you like the images here (2 versions of the same shot in fact) let me know and I may add another couple!

Thanks for looking in.

Finding the Light

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

I had a great day today at Stanley Grange in Knowsley Park, improving my ability to “Find the Light” with the guidance of Zoe & Andy, who are both members of our NW photographers group. It is a fab location and we had great weather, great teaching & models, and the company of great people! What more would I wish for? …

Well, I could have wished to come back to watch a Man U victory over Everton but that wasn’t to be!

There’s a set of my images from the day on my Facebook page but I will add a few here too
